The local History Society was formed in early 2018 with the aim of researching and providing events for villagers on subjects of local interest.
In May last year, there was an extremely successful three day event in Rangemore Church on the history of Rangemore village. Over 250 people attended this event.
In view of the organisation involved the Society has decided to run an event of this nature on an occasional basis, though in the meantime, to organise up to three events a year on a variety of interesting topics.
To start off the 2019 timetable, the first event will be held on Wednesday, 20th March in the restaurant area of The Horseshoe Inn. The event is free of charge and no booking is required, just turn up!
During the evening, which commences at 7.00pm, arrangements have been made with The Horseshoe for a two course meal to be provided for those who require it, at a nominal cost of £8.
Apart from learning a little of our local heritage the Society hopes this will turn out to be a convivial evening in comfortable surroundings and an opportunity to network with fellow villagers.
Apart from the meal, if required, there will be two 20 minute presentations of the following local topics:
- The history of the Tatenhill Almshouses
- A brief history of St Michael’s and All Angels Church in Tatenhill
