The Parish is located in East Staffordshire, about 3 miles to the West of Burton Upon Trent; separated from it by the A38, the Trent and Mersey Canal and farmland. The village of Barton Under Needwood is located approximately 3 miles to the south of the parish.
Tatenhill Parish consists of several communities in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside and within the National Forest. The main Communities are:
- Tatenhill Village
- Rangemore Village
- Rangemore Hall
- Tatenhill Common
- Wilmore Lane
There are 310 dwellings within the Parish, some 126 in Tatenhill; 116 in Rangemore (including the Hall and Mews); 33 at Tatenhill Common and 35 in other rural areas. It a small parish in terms of people but consists of a considerable acreage of land. In December 2014, there were 573 registered electors.
